Annual Substation Herbicide Treatment

Lakeland Electric is seeking a Vegetation Management Contractor under solicitation 2026-RFP-104 to provide semi-annual bare-earth herbicide treatments at substations and related areas in Lakeland, Florida. The primary objective is to secure economical pricing for services that are performed safely and maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance for the public. The resulting contract will be for an initial term of one year, with the possibility of four additional one-year renewals upon mutual consent. Responses for this solicitation are due by September 28, 2026. Compliance requirements for the selected contractor include the submission of a Human Trafficking Affidavit and the execution of comprehensive indemnification agreements to protect the City of Lakeland and its agents from liabilities arising from negligence or misconduct. Additionally, contractors are subject to a rigorous audit process covering safety records, employee training, drug and alcohol policies, and overall onsite safety performance to ensure continued inclusion on the approved contractors list. The contract is managed by the Substation Operations division of Lakeland Electric.
