APG-79 RADAR Retrofit Phase VI
Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The Naval Air Systems Command at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, plans to award a sole-source modification to Delivery Order N00019-21-F-0804 under Raytheon’s Corporate Basic Ordering Agreement to continue essential repair and configuration upgrade efforts for APG-79 radar Weapons Replaceable Assemblies. These repairs are necessary to address nonfunctioning units identified during baseline testing prior to the implementation of Engineering Change Proposal 6279, which requires units to be fully operational before upgrade. Raytheon is the exclusive designer, developer, manufacturer, and depot for the APG-79 radar system and holds all proprietary technical data and drawings needed to perform accurate repairs and upgrades, making it the only source capable of meeting the government’s requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. The action is justified under 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 due to the unique and specialized nature of the equipment, where competition would result in unacceptable duplication of cost with no prospect of recovery. This notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals; responses must be submitted by August 11, 2026, and all inquiries should be directed to Contract Specialist John Ryan. Subcontracting opportunities are to be pursued directly through Raytheon.

Full Description
Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), NAS Patuxent River, MD, intends to negotiate and award a modification to Delivery Order (DO) N00019-21-F-0804 under the Raytheon Corporate Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) N00019-20-G-0007 or the Raytheon Corporate Follow-on BOA on a sole source basis to Raytheon.
This modification is the continuing required effort to repair Weapons Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs) identified as nonfunctioning following baseline testing during Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) 6279’s upgrade. The scope of this effort will also include configuration upgrades.
The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, “Only one Responsible Source and No Other Type of Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements” for the proposed action.
Raytheon is the designer, developer, manufacturer, and Depot for the APG-79 radar systems. They are the sole owner of drawings required to repair APG-79 equipment. Repairs are required prior to equipment modification through ECP 6279. Therefore, the Raytheon Company is the only contractor with the requisite knowledge, experience, and technical data that can meet the Government’s requirements on a timely basis and in a cost-effective manner.
The Government has deemed the requirements listed above for the continued development or production of a major system, or highly specialized equipment, including major components thereof, to be available only through the original source, and has determined that award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition.
