AI Contract Overview

This project aims to upgrade and expand the existing drainage infrastructure along Stacey Road and Quintette Road to prevent flooding and improve stormwater management during severe weather events. The current system, consisting of 50 feet of triple 36-inch reinforced concrete pipes and a 300-foot box culvert, is undersized and causes Quintette Road to overtop during a 25-year storm, with upstream ditches surcharging dangerously close to nearby homes. The planned improvements include replacing the existing pipes with approximately 350 feet of a 4-foot by 10-foot box culvert, installing a 100-foot paved concrete ditch upstream, reconstructing three-quarters of a mile of Stacey Road, and milling and resurfacing the intersection of Stacey and Quintette Roads. Additionally, the project involves regrading downstream ditches and relocating utilities for ECUA (Sewer), Cottage Hill (Water), and coordinating with Okaloosa Gas to avoid disruptions. Designed to withstand a 100-year storm event, the project ensures that floodwaters will be contained within the upgraded ditches and culverts, preventing overtopping and protecting nearby properties. The contract, with a value estimated between 2 million and 5 million dollars, was posted on September 6, 2024, with a response deadline of October 7, 2024. The solicitation is managed by the Florida Engineering organization, and interested parties can contact David Miller via email or phone for further details. The project aims to significantly improve stormwater flow capacity and infrastructure resilience in the area.

The purpose of this project is to replace the undersized drainage infrastructure from the northwest corner of Stacey Road and Quintette Road to the outfall approximately 3/4 of a mile South On the east side of Stacey Rd.  This existing drainage system is composed of 50’ of triple 36” RCP pipes and 300’ of 3’ x 6’ box culvert.  The existing drainage system causes Quintette Road to over top and the upstream ditch to surcharge and come within 7” of the finished floor elevation of the home adjacent to the storm water channel during the 25-year event.  This project will replace the existing system with approximately 350’ of 4’ x 10’ box culvert. This will include the installation of 100’ of a 10’ wide paved concrete ditch upstream of the existing system, reconstruction of ¾ of a mile of Stacey Road and the milling and resurfacing of the intersection of Stacey Road and Quintette Road, and the regrading of the existing downstream ditch. Utility relocations for ECUA (Sewer) and Cottage Hill (Water) will be included and coordination with Okaloosa Gas to avoid impact to their facilities.  This project is designed for the road to not overtop and the flow be contained within the upstream and downstream ditches during the 100-year storm event
