The City of Montgomery, Alabama, is seeking a licensed Alabama auctioneer to provide comprehensive auctioneer services for the Public Works Department's equipment and property auctions. The selected vendor will be responsible for organizing, cataloging, and conducting both drive-through and off-site auctions, including the management of online bidding platforms, media outreach, and title transfers. The contract is for an initial term of one year with the possibility of four optional one-year renewals and a potential six-month interim extension. Compensation is based on a straight commission rate and a buyers premium to be proposed by the vendor. To be considered responsive, vendors must meet strict mandatory requirements, including having at least two licensed and bonded Title Agents, a combined social media following of 50,000, and a minimum staff of three auctioneers and five ring men. Financial and legal obligations include providing corporate financial statements, a proof of bonding capacity letter, and an irrevocable bond between 7 million and 10 million dollars per auction. Additionally, vendors must maintain specific insurance coverages, including 1 million dollars for commercial general liability per occurrence and 1 million dollars for automobile liability. Compliance with the Beason-Hammon Act via E-Verify and possession of a City of Montgomery business license are also required. Proposals are due by September 30, 2026, and will be awarded to the most responsive and responsible firm based on a cumulative scoring system.
