The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of the Director plans to negotiate a five-year contract extension with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to continue the acquisition and analysis of medical school faculty data. This work involves managing computerized proprietary data and maintaining the Medical College Faculty Roster, ensuring ongoing refinement and accuracy of faculty information critical to medical education and research. The sole-source nature of this contract is due to limited rights in data and intellectual property, restricting competition and making AAMC the only qualified provider for this service. The contract extends current work under Contract No. N01-OD-8-2107 and is authorized under federal regulation 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), allowing for non-competitive negotiation due to unique capabilities. This project is essential for the NIH as it relies on AAMC's exclusive access and expertise to support its data acquisition and analysis needs. The absence of additional set-aside or socioeconomic classifications indicates that the focus is strictly on securing continued access to specialized, proprietary information necessary for accurate and timely faculty data management.
