B--New Hollow Sphere Dual-Gradient Drilling System

Maurer Technology, Inc. has formed a specialized consortium involving oil field operators, service companies, drilling contractors, and national oil companies to support research on an innovative hollow sphere dual-gradient drilling (DGD) system. This initiative aims to generate valuable data on the performance and effectiveness of this new DGD technology, which will provide the Department of Energy (DOE) with a comprehensive comparative database to inform planning and evaluative efforts for current and future offshore drilling research projects. The DOE intends to award a sole source contract to Maurer Technology, recognizing it as the only entity with the required expertise and unique capacity to fulfill the agency’s needs under Federal Acquisition Regulations Part 6.302-1. This contract is not a solicitation or request for proposals; rather, it is a designated agreement to leverage Maurer’s specialized knowledge and existing collaboration to advance the development and understanding of the hollow sphere DGD system. This effort highlights the DOE’s strategic focus on enhancing offshore drilling technology through partnerships with industry leaders.
