B--Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Purchase Order to Northern Economics, Inc., Anchorage, AK

The U. S. Department of the Interior, Minerals Management Service, Procurement Operations Branch, is the contracting office for this procurement. The purpose of this notice is to announce the intent to award a Purchase Order on a sole source basis to Northern Economics, Inc., Anchorage, Alaska, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. MMS intends on awarding a Purchase Order as a follow-on effort to a previous order to Northern Economics for a study undertaken to assess potential economic impacts of the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Regional development activity on the North Slope Borough, documenting the changes of the North Slope economy in the period 1965 to present. It has been determined that award to any other source would result in unacceptable delays and additional costs in fulfilling the agency's requirement. This effort is valued between $36,000 - $46,000. This is not a request for competitive quotes. The intent of this Special Notice is for informational purposes only. However, all information received by Close of Business January 14, 2005, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this action based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
