BID 2027-001: SAND

The Town of Bethel, Connecticut, is soliciting bids for the procurement and delivery of dry screened sand for road de-icing purposes, with an estimated requirement of 4,000 to 6,000 cubic yards. The contract period extends through April 15, 2027. The material must consist of hard, strong, sharp durable grains and be free of clay, silt, shale, lumps, or soft and flaky particles. Limestone sand products and frozen materials are strictly prohibited. All sand must meet state standards and is subject to the approval of the Public Works Director and/or Highway Superintendent. Bidders are required to provide a sample of the sand for inspection, preferably via a site visit to their storage yard, prior to the contract award. Sealed bids must be submitted using the Schedule A pricing proposal form by October 13, 2026, at 9:45 AM. Each delivery must be accompanied by a valid weight slip from a third-party certified scale indicating gross, tare, and net weight. The successful contractor must certify they are the sole supplier of the material and provide comprehensive insurance coverage, including worker's compensation, automobile, commercial liability, and umbrella liability, naming the Town of Bethel as an additional insured. The contractor is also required to indemnify the Town against all claims resulting from negligent acts. Payments will be made within 30 days of invoice submission, provided all weight documentation is accurate and any necessary lien waivers from secondary suppliers are obtained.
