Introduction The City of Placerville (City) is seeking proposals from qualified firms or individuals to provide Contract Building Official services for approximately two (2) days per week, with additional on-call availability as needed. The City’s Development Services Department oversees planning, building, and code enforcement functions, and requires Building Official support to ensure continued compliance with State building codes, timely permit processing, and effective customer service. The City’s Building Division processes building permits, conducts plan reviews, performs inspections, and enforces applicable State and local building regulations. The Contract Building Official will serve as the City’s designated Building Official pursuant to the California Building Code and City Code. Project Purpose The purpose of this RFP is to retain a qualified consultant to: Serve as the City’s Building Official of Record Provide technical oversight, plan review, inspections, and code interpretation Ensure compliance with the California Building Standards Code, State law, and local ordinances Support staff, applicants, and the public with professional, timely service Assist with updates to local building policies, procedures, and fee schedules The selected consultant will work closely with City staff to maintain efficient operations and ensure high-quality service delivery.
