UGA DP: Project No. J-470 OUA-26-100 Building #1050 RenovationThe University System of Georgia, representing the University of Georgia, is seeking qualified design firms to provide professional services for the renovation of Building #1050 on the UGA campus in Athens. This project involves a comprehensive renovation of a historic building, originally constructed in 1939 with New Deal funds, currently housing the Environmental Health Sciences department. Following the department's relocation, the building will be transformed into centrally scheduled instructional spaces aligned with UGA’s active learning criteria, including adequate space per student, flexible furnishings, and collaboration tools. The approximately 24,000-gross-square-foot concrete and masonry structure includes a three-story central section and a one-story rear wing, with a small 900-square-foot area occupied by a food service vendor excluded from renovations. The solicitation invites statements of qualifications (SOQs) from firms interested in providing design services, with the intent to identify and interview the most qualified candidates. Respondents must carefully review and comply with all instructions set forth in the RFQ, and the Board of Regents reserves the right to reject any or all submissions or waive technicalities at its discretion. The deadline for responses is July 16, 2026, and interested parties can direct inquiries to the primary point of contact, Coleman Jones. This renovation project, located in the heart of UGA’s south campus, aims to revitalize the historic building to support modern instructional needs and enhance educational facilities within the university system.
