California Vegetation Treatment Program (CalVTP) Update

The Humboldt County Resource Conservation District is implementing a vegetation treatment project on approximately 6,414 acres of privately owned commercial forest and rangeland near Dinsmore and Bridgeville in eastern Humboldt County, California, under the authority of the California Vegetation Treatment Program (CalVTP) Program Environmental Impact Report. The project, designated with SCH# 2019012052, aims to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health through a combination of mechanical, manual, herbicide, and prescribed fire treatments. Activities include creating shaded fuel breaks, conducting ecological restoration, and reducing fuels in the wildland-urban interface using equipment such as feller-bunchers, chainsaws, ATVs, water tenders, and air curtain burners. Biomass generated from these treatments will be managed via pile burning, broadcast burning, chipping, lopping, or scattering.
