Caltrans Acquisition of a Portion of the Barstow Sanitary Landfill Along SR 247

Caltrans has proposed to acquire 5.43 acres of property owned by the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works Solid Waste Management Division. The land is located along State Route 247, extending from Stoddard Wells Road to Interstate 15 in and near the City of Barstow. The primary purpose of this acquisition is to facilitate road improvements in the area. The project is classified as a forecast under NAICS code 541360 and is managed by the County of San Bernardino Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division. It has been granted a categorical exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act under Class 12, Section 15312 for Surplus Government Property Sales and the Common Sense Exemption 15061(b)(3), as the acquisition of the surplus property is determined to have no significant environmental impact. Administrative oversight is provided by the Engineering Manager of the Environmental Management Division and the lead agency planner.
