This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bid Package for its construction project, entitled "CALUMET HARBOR ROCK REMOVAL". PROJECT INFORMATION: The project is located at the Calumet Harbor, Indiana (Lake County). The Calumet Harbor has dolomite existing on the bottom of the harbor that needs to be removed in order to ensure availability of the authorized depth in the channel. The average height of the dolomite above the existing authorized depth is 1.5 - 2 ft deep and will need to be removed to at least 2 feet below the authorized depth. Previous attempts at removing the rock have proven inefficient and it is anticipated that drilling and blasting will be required to remove the rock and then it will be transported nearby for disposal in the water. An area has been identified and chosen for removal of up to approximately 7,000 cu yd of rock within the Federal Channel. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED HUB ZONE - SMALL BUSINESS. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) 237990, identifying a small business size standard in dollars of $36.5M. The planned contract type is firm-fixed Price. The magnitude of cost for construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
