DUTCH GAP AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION, ANTIOCH, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOISThe United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District plans to issue a full and open solicitation for the Dutch Gap Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration project in Antioch, Lake County, Illinois. This initiative focuses on restoring a 785-acre area owned by Lake County Forest Preserves, where previous intensive agriculture led to drainage alterations, the spread of invasive species, reduced wildlife habitat, and disrupted natural hydrology. The project aims to rehabilitate stream, riparian, and wetland environments, rehydrate former hydric soils, reestablish natural hydroperiods, and foster diverse native plant communities to benefit migratory birds and local wildlife.
