Centralised Health Based Place of Safety (CHBPoS) – furniture to kit out new unit

The Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust has awarded a contract to Pineapple Contracts Unlimited for the procurement of specialist furniture to equip the new Centralised Health Based Place of Safety. The project involves furnishing two assessment rooms with twelve chairs and two coffee tables, a patient lounge and diner featuring a two-seater sofa, rocking chair, armchair, coffee table, and a dining table with six chairs, as well as a calming bench chair for the extra care area. The total value of the award is 23,360.80 pounds excluding VAT, with a performance period running from August 5, 2026, to October 9, 2026. The required furniture must be robust and weighted to withstand a challenging mental health environment while remaining comfortable to support patient recovery. All items must adhere to strict clinical, moving and handling, facilities management, and infection prevention and control standards. Final product selection was determined through testing conducted with both staff and patients to ensure the equipment meets the specific needs of the clinical setting.
