By way of this Notice, and in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, The Chicago District U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces its intentions to award a Sole Source, Firm Fixed-Price Purchase Order to The Oilgear Company of 2300 S 51st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53219-2340 to supply spare hydraulic power units for the Chicago Lock. As the original source, Oilgear has the specific expertise and specialized knowledge that uniquely qualifies it to supply an exact copy of the existing hydraulic power units to be used as spares. This work is follow-on to a contract awarded for Chicago Lock Gate replacement through contract W912P6-09-C-0015 under which Oilgear was a subcontractor. Therefore, contracting with Oilgear will provide the consistency needed to acquire an exact copy of the existing equipment. Oilgear has been identified as the only entity with project-specific knowledge and experience that can supply the equipment needed. In that regard, the equipment is deemed to be available from its original source, Oilgear. If award were to be made to other than Oilgear, the government stands to endure a substantial duplication of costs that is not expected to be recovered through competition, and unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agency's requirements. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 333995, with a small business size standard of 500 employees. This notice does not constitute a solicitation for offers, proposals, etc. However, interested firms may send a capabilities statement NO LATER THAN the close of business on September 27, 2014. Statements should be sent to the attention of Regina Blair at regina.g.blair@usace.army.mil; ensure that the subject line of your email includes the title/description of this announcement. Award is anticipated of said Contract on September 30, 2014. This announcement is in accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(1).
