The Coffee County Library is undertaking a $1 million renovation focused on the public areas of the Douglas-Coffee County Library, encompassing approximately 15,000 square feet of the total 20,000 square foot facility. The project includes the removal of existing flooring throughout multiple public sections such as the main library, genealogy area, children's area, lobby, bathrooms, and conference room. Special attention is required in the main restrooms for tile removal from both walls and floors, followed by preparation of sub-flooring and walls. The renovation also demands the installation of new commercial-grade flooring, including luxury vinyl plank, tile, and carpet, alongside the application of Sherwin Williams or comparable interior and exterior paint. Updated commercial-grade fixtures will be installed in the bathrooms, and exterior mechanical room double doors will be replaced. Due to the scope of work, the project will be divided into at least four phases to minimize disruption to the community and maintain library accessibility where possible. Coordination with the library will be essential to limit closures. Sealed bids for the project are due by June 16, 2026, at 10:15 AM and will be publicly opened in the library's conference room. The solicitation is managed by the Coffee County Board of Commissioners, overseen by Library Director Rodney McElveen, and aims to balance necessary upgrades while preserving access for patrons throughout the renovation period.

Scope of Work; SRLS seeks bids to conduct a $1 million renovation of the public access parts of the Douglas-Coffee County Library. Demolition: Complete removal of the existing flooring in the main library, genealogy area, children's area, lobby, bathrooms, and conference room. The main restrooms need to have tiles on the walls and floors removed. Preparation: Prepare the sub-floor to be ready for new flooring, and prepare walls to be painted. Painting will be interior, public access areas, and exterior. The main restrooms will need the walls and floors prepared to install new tiles. Installation: Install new flooring in the main library, genealogy area, children's area, lobby, bathrooms, and conference room. The Coffee County Library Board has approved the primary and accent colors, as well as the flooring to be placed in the library. For paint we want at least Sherwin Williams or better, and for flooring we want commercial grade LVP, tiles, and carpet. The main restrooms need new tiles on the floor, and walls, as well as new fixtures all commercial grade. Replace: The exterior mechanical room double doors need to be replaced.
