This contract aims to enhance the City of Seattle's Transportation Demand Management (TDM) initiatives to support the city's Climate Change Response Framework, targeting a goal of 90% of trips being made via carbon-zero options by 2030. The selected consultant team will collaborate closely with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) to implement targeted TDM strategies, focusing on increasing sustainable travel options in the greater downtown Seattle area. The work includes developing neighborhood-specific engagement, educational programs, and supportive services for small and medium-sized businesses and their employees, as well as providing guidance to ensure compliance with the city's Commuter Benefit Ordinance. Additional efforts will address visitor trips to major downtown destinations and event venues, aiming to reduce overall carbon emissions from transportation. Funded partly through federal sources such as the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the project emphasizes inclusivity with a mandatory Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal of 19%. The contract, titled Core TDM Expansion (FHWA), has an estimated value between five and ten million dollars, with a response deadline of November 6, 2024. The project is managed by the Seattle Department of Transportation, with primary contact Julidta Palmer available for inquiries. The initiative aligns with broader sustainability and urban mobility goals, leveraging past campaigns and innovative outreach to foster a shift toward greener transportation habits across diverse travel markets within the city.
