The University of Washington is soliciting qualified contractors under RFP# 1255768-BK to provide comprehensive electronics recycling services, including the collection, transportation, processing, destruction, and disposal of end-of-life electronic equipment. The selected contractor must ensure all materials are recycled and destroyed, strictly prohibiting the reuse, refurbishment, or donation of any university materials. UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, Inc., intended to enter into a one-year, firm-fixed-price, requirements contract for CRT Recycling. During the evaluation, we learned that the processes in the recycling industry are rapidly evolving. As a result, we feel it would be prudent to issue this award for an initial period of six (6) months, with an additional six (6) month option. We will monitor the progress of the recycling industry during this first six months and determine if the option will be awarded or if we will need to re-solicit this requirement.
