Cybersecurity and Covered Defense Information Safeguarding

The contract requires the implementation and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive cybersecurity controls to safeguard covered defense information in full compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012 and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-171. These controls are designed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive defense data handled by the subcontractor, covering all aspects of access control, awareness and training, audit and accountability, configuration management, identification and authentication, incident response, maintenance, media protection, personnel security, physical protection, risk assessment, security assessment, system and communications protection, and system and information integrity. The subcontractor must establish, document, and continuously monitor a robust cybersecurity program that meets federal requirements and adapts to evolving threats. This agreement falls under the North American Industry Classification System code 541512 for computer systems design services and is issued as a subcontract by the Defense Logistics Agency under the Department of Defense. Performance is expected to occur without geographic restriction, and all activities must align with DOD standards for protecting controlled unclassified information. The subcontractor is accountable for demonstrating compliance through formal assessments, maintaining detailed records, and responding to any security incidents promptly and in accordance with federal mandates. Failure to meet these requirements may result in contractual penalties, suspension of work, or loss of eligibility for future defense contracts.
