The contract requires implementation of all NIST SP 800-171 cybersecurity controls on systems that process, store, or transmit covered defense information, ensuring compliance with federal standards for protecting sensitive data. All applicable technical, administrative, and physical safeguards outlined in the NIST framework must be fully deployed, maintained, and documented to meet DoD requirements for information system security. Failure to adhere to these controls may result in non-compliance penalties and loss of contract eligibility. The contractor is obligated to report any cyber incident impacting covered defense information within 72 hours of discovery and must fully support Department of Defense forensic investigations upon request. This includes providing access to systems, logs, and personnel as needed, and cooperating with investigative procedures without delay. The requirement applies to all environments handling covered information, regardless of location, and underscores a strict accountability framework for security breaches and incident response throughout the contract lifecycle.
