This contract represents a Notice of Intent to purchase open market software maintenance services for existing software licenses, specifically for the Unisys ClearPath Enterprise Server mainframe environment used by the General Services Administration's Federal Acquisition Service Office of the Chief Information Officer. The maintenance is essential to support critical mainframe operations hosted at redundant sites in Eagan, Minnesota, and Salt Lake City, Utah, which underpin the majority of the agency’s computing needs. The Government previously procured ClearPath mainframe technology through a competitively awarded GSA Blanket Purchase Agreement and has identified certain embedded third-party software maintenance subscriptions that are not available through the GSA Schedule, necessitating open market purchases. These maintenance services cover various software modules essential to mainframe function and ensure continuous 24x7 operations, making separate procurement impractical due to the risk of operational disruption. The total estimated cost of these software maintenance items is $124,437, covering multiple licensed modules including Open/A Host Software, Secure FTP-Asgard, and several Viewpoint components, among others. Funding is contingent upon the availability of FY 2007 funds, and this Notice does not constitute a solicitation or obligate any funds. The Government emphasizes that incorporating these maintenance costs into the total mainframe order is in its best interest to maintain system integrity and service continuity. Interested parties are invited to seek further information or address questions to the designated contracting officer, Holly Carr, but this Notice neither solicits proposals nor represents a contract award at this stage.

The Government intends to purchase open market Hardware maintenance services under a GSA Schedule task order for mainframe hosting services: The General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has the responsibility of providing the information technology required to support its business lines. For decades, a key component in the development of these systems has been based the Unisys ClearPath Enterprise Server platform. A redundant pair of these mainframe computers are located in Eagan, MN and Salt Lake City UT. Six of seven OMB-300 ?majors? run on the ClearPath computers, and the majority of all computing FAS undertakes is served by them. In February 2002 a competitive procurement under GSA Schedule 70 (in accordance with FAR 8.4) was awarded to Unisys under the GSA Blanket Purchase Agreement (entitled, ?GSAS) for the purchase and installation of the ClearPath mainframe technology. Unisys was the one of the competitive solutions considered and recommended by the technical evaluation team. It was also considered the reasonable and acceptable solution based on price. All interested parties should request additional information, communicate concerns, or direct any questions concerning this acquisition to Holly Carr 703 605 5588, email: holly.carr@gsa.gov.
