The U.S. Census Bureau is preparing for critical steps in the acquisition of the Decennial Response Integration System (DRIS) for the 2010 Census. A draft Request for Proposal (RFP), or at least key sections of it, will be made available online on June 30, 2004, allowing industry participants to review and submit questions or recommendations via email between July 1 and July 23, with responses to all inquiries to be provided by August 20, 2004. Following this, a vendor conference is scheduled for July 15, 2004, where the Census Bureau will present an overview of the acquisition process, discuss unique security requirements, and offer a Q&A session with subject matter experts. This event is also the exclusive opportunity for vendors to obtain a Digital Test Deck (DTD), a representative sample of the expected complexity of paper data capture forms for the 2010 Census, which must be requested in writing prior to the conference. Interested vendors are required to RSVP by email or phone, providing attendee details and indicating whether they want the Digital Test Deck, with only one set available per company. The conference will be held at the Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland, and detailed information about access, parking, and directions is provided through designated online resources. The contract is managed by the Department of Commerce Census Office with a specific point of contact available to address further inquiries. This procurement effort, identified under solicitation number 2010-02, falls under NAICS code 541990 and is a significant step toward enabling the efficient processing of census data in 2010.
