The contract pertains to the renewal of a floating license and support agreement for Fluent software, a computational fluid dynamics program used by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) laboratory in Morgantown, WV. The current license, which includes 2 serial processes, 1 GAMBIT-only serial process, and 6 additional parallel processes, will remain effective until November 30, 2004. The software is operated on the Sun Enterprise 6000 system maintained by NIOSH-OAMS. Fluent, Inc., the sole producer of this specialized software, has provided the program for several years, and the existing data calculations depend on the continued compatibility of this license. This acquisition is expected to be negotiated on a sole-source basis with Fluent, Inc., due to the proprietary nature and historical use of the software, with an estimated value of under $100,000. While this notice is primarily informational, organizations capable of providing similar licenses and support are invited to respond within seven days of the notice’s publication to help determine if competitive procurement is warranted. Responses are directed to Brenda L. Goodwin at the NIOSH office in Morgantown, WV. This simplified acquisition ensures the continuity of critical software for ongoing projects at NIOSH.
