The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information and Technology, is conducting market research via a Request for Information to inform a future acquisition of a modern, modular, cloud-based Healthcare Data Auditing Billing and Coding Optimization Software. The goal is to implement an enterprise-wide system for the Veterans Health Administration to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of coding and billing activities across various encounter types, including inpatient, outpatient, surgical, emergency, behavioral health, and long-term care. The government is specifically seeking industry perspectives on how modern technology can optimize revenue cycle activities and clinical documentation integrity rather than simply carrying forward current solutions. Key capability requirements include role-based access, configurable workflows for compliance and supervisory functions, and real-time data exchange with government clinical and billing services. The system must support bidirectional integration with the VistA electronic health record and adhere to federal cybersecurity, privacy, and accessibility standards. Respondents are asked to provide detailed information regarding their technical architecture, licensing models, data portability, and notional pricing. This RFI is for planning purposes only and does not commit the government to an award; responses are due by November 6, 2026, and should include detailed business profiles and socioeconomic status to assist in potential set-aside determinations.
