AI Contract Overview
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) plans to release a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) inviting research applications aligned with the NIH Stage Model for behavioral intervention development, specifically targeting Stage II through Stage V. The focus is on creating and advancing behavioral interventions for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as their care partners or caregivers. This funding aims to support a milestone-driven planning phase lasting up to two years, with the potential for a subsequent clinical trial phase if key milestones are successfully met. Interventions considered should already be developed and testable, having completed Stage I activities prior to submission. This upcoming NOFO will use the R61/R33 activity code to facilitate a phased approach to research development and implementation. Although applications are not currently being accepted, this announcement serves to give potential investigators ample time to build collaborations and prepare responsive proposals. Experts in aging research, behavioral interventions, and dementia care are encouraged to begin considering project ideas suitable for this opportunity. The contact for inquiries is Melissa Riddle, Ph.D., at the National Institute on Aging.
