Denbigh Landfill Grounds Maintenance and Mowing Services

The Denbigh Landfill includes approximately 79 acres of vegetated final cover requiring recurring maintenance. The site includes top benches, side slopes, toe areas, drainage swales, access roads, landfill gas wells, monitoring wells, valve vaults, and stormwater structures. Post-closure care commenced on January 11, 2001, and is required for 30 years. Post-closure obligations include maintaining the final cover and vegetation; repairing settlement, subsidence, and erosion; and maintaining the leachate collection, groundwater monitoring, and gas monitoring systems. City staff conduct and document monthly inspections, and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality may inspect the site for regulatory compliance. The current need is to establish an ongoing contract with a qualified contractor that has specialized low-ground-pressure and slope-mowing equipment capable of maintaining the site without damaging the landfill cap.
