(E2) Construct Rappel Tower at Facility 2135

The Department of the Navy, via Navfac Mid-Atlantic, is forecasting a project for the construction of a rappel tower at Facility 2135 in Yorktown. This 8(a) set-aside contract requires a single company to design, manufacture, and install a prefabricated, bolt-together steel tower measuring 72 feet tall, 30 feet long, and 20 feet wide. The structure must feature a panelized roof with a 1/12 pitch and 9-inch overhang, along with 4-mil powder coated steel throughout. Technical specifications include platforms at the 36-foot and 60-foot levels with 1-inch bar grating decking rated for 125 psf. The tower must be equipped with 42-inch tall safety rails consisting of 2-inch angles and tubular cross members, as well as open riser stairs with 42-inch wide treads and code-compliant bar grating landings. The selected contractor is required to provide all necessary stamped drawings and calculations to ensure structural integrity and compliance.
