The contract invites vendors to prepare for an upcoming Request for Solutions (RFS) aimed at replacing the MK20 MOD 1 Electro-Optic/Infrared Sight System currently used on various US Navy and US Coast Guard ships equipped with Gun Weapon Systems. This initiative addresses obsolescence and supply limitations by seeking updated solutions conforming to modern performance standards including Modular Open System Architecture, improved reliability metrics such as Mean Time Between Failure, and compliance with Motion Industry Standards Board guidelines. The acquisition will be conducted through the Expeditionary Missions Consortium (EMC2) Other Transaction Agreement managed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division. Only members of the EMC2 consortium are eligible to respond to this solicitation, which is expected to be published around June 30, 2026. Interested parties must join EMC2 via emccrane.org to access the full Request for Solutions document and participate. The solicitation process will be overseen by the Department of Defense office at NSWC Crane, Indiana, with Mark Dravet serving as the primary point of contact. The contract posting and updates will be available on SAM.gov, and consortium members will receive notifications about the RFS release through the EMC2 manager. This effort aligns with government acquisition authorities outlined under 10 U.S.C. § 4022.
