The Department of National Defence (DND), through the 1 Canadian Air Division (1CAD) HQ , is seeking qualified subject matter experts to deliver advanced mountain rescue training in support of Canada’s Search and Rescue (SAR) mandate.
This training is required to ensure Search and Rescue Technicians (SAR Techs) are capable of penetrating remote areas within the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) area of responsibility (AOR) to provide immediate and life-sustaining medical care. SAR Techs operate as aircrew, typically in two-person teams consisting of a Team Leader (TL) and a Team Member (TM). Their missions demand proficiency in specialized skills, including parachuting, mountain operations, scuba diving, and helicopter hoisting, as well as participation in ground SAR activities. SAR Techs must be able to operate and succeed in all environmental conditions.

• Alberta: Jasper’s Marmot Basin and William Switzer Provincial Park (Jarvis Lake Detachment and surrounding area).
1.2 Timeframe:
• 01 February 2026 – 28 March 2026.
