The Fiscal Year 2027 Department of War Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI) is a joint solicitation sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, the Office of Naval Research, and the Army Research Office. This initiative seeks to fund basic science and engineering research across 16 specific topics, including high-entropy electrochemical materials and bio-inspired autonomous self-healing. The program offers a total estimated funding pool of 170 million dollars, with individual awards typically structured as grants over a five-year period of performance. While recommended funding profiles for some topics are approximately 7.5 million dollars over five years, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research will not consider exception requests exceeding 15 million dollars.
