The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) Natick Contracting Division, acting on behalf of the Soldier Systems Center in Natick, Massachusetts, intends to award a sole source purchase order to Aerostar International Inc. for 218 Air Force Fuel Handlers Coveralls. This procurement is based on the justification under FAR 6.302-1, as Aerostar is the only source capable of providing the required coveralls because they are currently producing the same items under an existing contract. The government needs additional samples to test and evaluate modifications to these coveralls, so continuity in production from the original manufacturer is essential. The contract, identified by solicitation number USA-SNOTE-050726-001 and posted on July 26, 2005, falls under the NAICS code 315999 for apparel manufacturing. The effort supports the Department of Defense's ongoing needs for specialized protective clothing, with contract management based out of Natick, MA. Questions related to this acquisition can be directed to Mr. Richard R. Alves, Jr. at the specified address or email. The announcement for this sole source procurement expires on August 8, 2005.
