NASA JSC Intends to Issue a New Work Modification to the Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services (xEVAS) Contract 80JSC022DA022 (Axiom Space, Inc.) to Add CLIN 5: Hardware Production & Delivery (Sole Source)NASA Johnson Space Center plans to issue a sole-source contract modification to Axiom Space, Inc. under the existing Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services (xEVAS) contract (No. 80JSC022DA022). This modification adds a new Contract Line Item Number (CLIN 5) focused on hardware production and delivery in support of extravehicular activity (EVA) system integration, testing, training, and mission execution. The modification does not increase the overall contract ceiling and will run concurrently with the current contract period, which extends through May 30, 2032. The contract remains a firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) vehicle providing NASA with critical EVA system capabilities needed for Artemis and future exploration missions beyond low-earth orbit. Axiom Space, as the original equipment manufacturer developing the lunar-capable xEVA system, is considered the only responsible source capable of providing compatible hardware without unacceptable schedule delays or duplicative engineering. This specialized work involves highly integrated life-support suits functioning as human-sized spacecraft, and no other sources can meet the unique technical and certification requirements within mission timelines. While NASA invites other vendors to submit capability statements demonstrating compatibility and feasibility by June 22, 2026, the decision to proceed with a sole-source modification to Axiom will be made if no acceptable alternatives are identified. The contract modification will include new terms for ordering, inspection, acceptance, and accountability of NASA-owned hardware to ensure alignment with Axiom’s current system architecture and sustainment responsibilities.

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), through its Precision Strike Weapons Program Office (PMA-201), plans to award a sole source Delivery Order under the existing Basic Ordering Agreement N0001926G1002 to The Boeing Company. This delivery order, anticipated in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, aims to establish a contract for managing the Government Furnished Property (GFP) Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) specifically for the Harpoon and Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response (SLAM-ER) programs covering fiscal years 2026 to 2028. The Boeing Company is uniquely qualified for this contract as the sole designer, developer, manufacturer, and integrator of these weapon systems, holding exclusive rights to the technical data and possessing the necessary expertise to fulfill government requirements. This acquisition is conducted under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, allowing for a non-competitive procurement considering only one responsible source exists. While this notice signals Boeing as the intended awardee, small businesses interested in subcontracting opportunities may communicate their interest to Boeing’s designated contact, with copies sent to NAVAIR representatives. The government emphasizes this is not a solicitation offering competitive proposals, reserves the discretion to forego competition or contracting, and does not guarantee a contract award. The performance location is set for Boeing’s facility in St. Louis, Missouri, with administrative oversight by NAVAIR at Patuxent River, Maryland.
