Gaston County is seeking proposals for prevention programs and services aimed at combating the opioid epidemic within the community, supported by over $40 million received from the National Opioid Settlements over an 18-year period. A dedicated $400,000 will be allocated for prevention initiatives during the funding period from January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, through a competitive application process. The overall goal is to foster collaborative, impactful efforts that reduce opioid misuse and its associated harms, with a focus on community engagement, evidence-based practices, and long-term sustainability.
