Goleta Water District Filter Washtrough Replacements

The Goleta Water District Filter Washtrough Replacements project involves the replacement of deteriorated fiberglass filter troughs at the Corona Del Mar Water Treatment Plant with new stainless steel troughs. The existing troughs, which have been in service since 1974, are used to disperse water evenly over the filter media in six filters and to remove water during backwash. Due to continuous exposure to sunlight, water, and treatment chemicals, the fiberglass has chipped, necessitating this upgrade to prevent debris from entering the filters, improve overall reliability, and ensure uninterrupted treatment at the facility. The project is categorized as the rehabilitation of deteriorated existing facilities and is limited to a developed, non-environmentally sensitive area with no new construction or expansion of capacity. Administrative oversight is managed by Daniel Brooks, the Engineering and Infrastructure Manager. The project has been filed with a Notice of Exemption under CEQA, with official documentation and filing fees processed through the State of California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
