The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at Patuxent River, Maryland, has issued a sole source requirement for wind tunnel testing of the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) aft lug components. This effort focuses on obtaining precise measurements of the drag coefficient and center of pressure for the 14- and 30-inch aft lugs, integral parts of the JSOW system. The contract is planned as a firm fixed price agreement awarded exclusively to Allied Aerospace Industries, utilizing their North American Trisonic Wind Tunnel facility in El Segundo, California. This procurement is justified under FAR 6.302-1, indicating that Allied Aerospace Industries is the only responsible source capable of fulfilling the government's specific needs. As this is a sole source procurement, no request for proposals (RFP) will be issued, and the acquisition is not open to competitive bidding.
