Henry Elementary School HVAC Project

The Henry Elementary School HVAC Project, managed by the Long Beach Unified School District, involves extensive facility improvements and modernization at Patrick Henry Elementary School located at 3720 Canehill Ave, Long Beach, CA. The primary scope of work focuses on the installation of HVAC systems in all classrooms, offices, and support spaces, including the auditorium, cafeteria, and kitchen. To support these installations, the project includes necessary utility system upgrades to electrical, low voltage, water, and sewer systems, as well as roofing repairs. Additional facility enhancements feature the replacement of interior lighting, upgrades to building finishes such as ceilings, flooring, and painting, and the installation of new windows, glazing, and doors. Beyond climate control, the project encompasses significant accessibility, safety, and technological upgrades. Accessibility improvements will be made to the path of travel, parking, drop-off areas, restrooms, and drinking fountains to meet current building codes. Safety enhancements include campus-wide fire alarm upgrades, new tactile signage, and potential seismic upgrades in accordance with DSA and local health department standards. The school will also receive technological updates, including new projectors, screens, and markerboards in classrooms, the library, and the auditorium. Furthermore, the campus will undergo building and room re-numbering, the installation of new shade structures, and general site improvements. This project has been granted a Notice of Exemption from further environmental review under CEQA Class 1 and Class 14 categories, as it consists of minor alterations that do not increase student capacity.
