Full Description
In general, the selected contractor(s) will be responsible for providing the following services:
• Daily care and feeding of all birds, including preparation of species-appropriate diets.
• Cleaning and maintaining aviary enclosures, equipment, and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
• Monitoring bird health, behavior, and wellbeing, and promptly addressing any issues.
• Providing or coordinating regular and emergency avian veterinary care by a licensed and experienced bird veterinarian, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, diagnostics, and treatment of illnesses or injuries.
• Keeping detailed records of bird health, feeding, veterinary visits, and any incidents.
• Assisting with bird enrichment activities and habitat enhancements as directed.
• Advising on best practices for aviary management and bird welfare.
The selected contractor(s) will primarily work with the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Public Works to ensure services are properly delivered. The proposed initial contract term is three (3) years with the potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability.
