Title of Announcement: Intent to Announce Request for Unfunded Project Proposals (RUPP2) under Robotics OTA This is not a Request for Unfunded Project Proposals, but for planning purposes only. A project award will not be awarded from this announcement. The Government intends to announce a Request for Unfunded Project Proposals for execution of a project award in support of Ground Robotics related research areas. The purpose of this announcement is to provide members of the Robotics Technology Consortium, and industry in general, advanced notification of Government intent. In December 2007, the Government announced its intent to enter into an Other Transaction Agreement with one (1) consortium in support of Ground Robotics related Research and Development projects. As a result of the Ground Robotics Industry Day in January 2008, one (1) consortium formed, the Robotics Technology Consortium. It is the intent of the Government to make multiple project awards to the members of the Robotics Technology Consortium as a result of member project proposals submitted via the Request for Project Proposals. The anticipated research areas for which project proposals will be sought are the following: (1) Enhancing Trust in Autonomous Behaviors; (2) Outdoor Semantic Mapping for Navigation; (3) GPS Denied High Precision Night Time Navigation and Mapping; (4) Omnidirectional Optical Communications for High-Bandwidth Operation; (5) Semantic Speech Interfaces for Robot Control; (6) Enhance Navigation via Obstacle Manipulation; (7) Wearable Human Robot Control.
