The contract involves the procurement of four units of a specified part, NSN 7G-5996-014261920, for the repair or modification of a radio amplifier. The items are to be delivered FOB origin to Harris Corporation in Rochester, New York. This acquisition is planned as a sole-source negotiation, meaning the government intends to negotiate directly with one supplier due to the specialized nature of the part, which must be obtained from designated manufacturing sources as per DoD-STD-100 standards. The notice clarifies that there is limited technical data or government rights available to allow acquisition from alternative sources or qualification testing of other parts, thereby restricting competition. While the government invites interested parties to express their interest or submit quotes before the award date, the decision not to conduct a competitive procurement lies solely with the government. The action is handled by the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, under solicitation number N0010414PDE78. This purchase is not set aside for any specific category of business, emphasizing the unique nature of the requirement. The lack of available technical data rights for alternatives highlights the critical importance of the selected source for fulfilling the need.
