The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service plans to repair two Litton Klystron units, specifically model L-5782-20 with serial numbers 1139R1 and 1110R1. Litton Electron Devices, the original manufacturer located in San Carlos, California, has been identified as the sole source for this repair work due to proprietary specifications and the lack of detailed technical data available to other vendors. Litton will provide the necessary labor and materials to restore the equipment to like-new operating condition and appearance, complying strictly with their proprietary tolerances. The repaired units will be delivered to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, Missouri. Although this is not a formal solicitation or request for quotations, the government is inviting other potentially authorized repair sources to respond within ten days if they can demonstrate capability and prior experience repairing this specific equipment. Interested parties must submit detailed contact information and references to a designated contact. The government reserves the right to either proceed with awarding the repair directly to Litton or to solicit competitive quotes if multiple qualified sources respond. The procurement will be executed under FAR Part 13, utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures, aiming to ensure the most advantageous outcome for the government.
