The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) plans to issue a sole source solicitation (N00024-06-R-4418) to National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) for the execution planning and completion of dry-docking and non-dry-docking selected restricted availabilities for LHA 1 and LHD 1 class ships that are homeported in or visiting San Diego, California. This contract will encompass a range of maintenance activities, including execution planning, actual dry-docking and non-dry-docking availabilities, as well as continuous and emergent maintenance requirements. Due to the specific need for dry-dock facilities capable of handling large LHA/LHD class ships on the West Coast, NASSCO has been identified as the sole source provider. The contract is expected to be a cost-plus-award-fee type and solicitation details were scheduled for electronic posting around September 8, 2006, on the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) website, in addition to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) platform. This dual posting ensures accessibility even if one site is unavailable. Potential subcontractors interested in opportunities under this contract are encouraged to contact NASSCO directly. The contract underscores NASSCO’s unique capability to support the significant repair, maintenance, and alteration needs of these major naval vessels in the San Diego area.
