The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has initiated a procurement process for Inactive Ship Maintenance services at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Office in Bremerton, Washington. A draft Request for Proposal (RFP) was scheduled to be posted around March 20, 2002, on the Navy Electronic Commerce Online system. This draft is designed to allow potential contractors to review the requirements, ask questions, and submit comments by March 31, 2002, enabling them to prepare competitive proposals ahead of the official RFP release. The final RFP, anticipated to have a 45-day proposal submission window, will be a 100% small business set-aside, emphasizing NAVSEA's commitment to supporting small business participation. In addition to Bremerton, NAVSEA plans to release a draft RFP for similar Inactive Ship Maintenance services at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Office in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, around April 1, 2002. Comments on this draft are expected approximately ten days later, with the official RFP targeted for issuance around April 15, 2002, also designated as a 100% small business set-aside. These contracts aim to secure maintenance services for inactive naval vessels, ensuring their proper care and management, under structured timelines to facilitate thorough contractor preparation and engagement.
