The Department of Veterans Affairs, through its Network Contracting Office in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, plans to award a sole-source firm fixed-price contract to Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. for the First Call Service Contract covering Siemens equipment at the Memphis Veterans Administration Medical Center. The contract will cover a 12-month period from October 1, 2012, to September 30, 2013, with no option to extend beyond this timeframe. The decision to pursue a sole-source procurement is based on the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, which permits contracting without competition when only one responsible source can satisfy the agency’s specific requirements, in this case, preventive maintenance services for Siemens equipment. This action is not a solicitation or a request for quotations but serves to notify potential interested parties of the government's intent to proceed with Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. as the sole contractor. Responses from other potential suppliers are invited but must demonstrate a bona fide capability to meet the requirements within three business days, or the contract will be awarded without further notice. All responses must be submitted through the designated vendor portal, as phone inquiries will not be accepted. The procurement relates to NAICS code 423450, and the government's final determination on competition will rely on any information received from interested parties.
