J -- TEREX CRANE REPAIR

The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.The Defense Distribution Depot Red River located in Texarkana, TX has a requirement for a contractor to furnish all necessary labor, equipment, and material necessary to repair the transmission in a Terex Crane model TFC45R with serial number 172178. The Government has requested assistance through the manufacturer for over a year. The Government has been working with a local contractor purchasing and replacing recommended parts. A service contract was recently awarded to a local Dana/Clark transmission service company that determined the problem was not internal to the transmission and recommended replacing a Terex shifter assembly part. The shifter assembly was replaced and did not fix the problem. A factory authorized representative is needed to diagnose the cause of the Terex locking in gear and accomplish the required repair to resolve the problem. Terex Crane has identified Atlantic Machinery & Equipment located in Richmond, Virginia as the company authorized to diagnose and recommend a course of action to correct the problem. The Government intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to Atlantic Machinery and Equipment of Richmond, Virginia.
