Jefferson Early Education School - New Building

The San Francisco Unified School District is seeking a qualified Design/Build entity for the replacement and expansion of the Jefferson Early Education Center located at 1350 25th Avenue in San Francisco. The project involves the demolition of the existing campus and the construction of a new single-story building ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 gross square feet. This new facility will house four flexible classrooms for pre-kindergarten and transitional kindergarten programs, as well as administrative and support spaces. The District has a strong preference for a modular, pre-approved building solution, specifically mass timber, to meet the project schedule. The estimated hard costs for the project are 13.9 million dollars. This is a two-phase procurement process beginning with a Request for Qualifications to shortlist up to five qualified respondents who will then be eligible to submit proposals during a subsequent Request for Proposals phase. To be eligible, firms or joint ventures must have maintained a primary business location in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area for at least two years, and key personnel must possess at least three years of comparable experience. The selected contractor must comply with the 2026 Project Labor Agreement, the Student Career Pathways and Workforce Development Policy, and all regulatory requirements from the Division of the State Architect and the Office of Public School Construction. Statements of Qualifications must be hand-delivered by October 23, 2026.
