The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SON-63304-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Tracey Rattray. The project is limited to the biotechnical stabilization and revegetation of an eroding bank along the Russian River. The project will require stabilization of approximately 4,100 square feet (110 linear feet) of the bank of the river using riprap interplanted with willow (Salix sp.) stakes. The work will occur using an excavator to dig subgrade benching of the bank slope and to place rock riprap. Construction of the toe of the bank stabilization will require work in the flowing water of the Russian River. A turbidity curtain will be used to prevent sediment from exiting the site. All equipment will be operated from dry land, but the bucket of an excavator may contact the live stream to place key boulders within surface water of the Russian River. The project will result in approximately 4,100 square feet of permanent impact and approximately 3,100 square feet of temporary impact to riparian habitat. A total of three riparian trees will be removed as part of this project. Access and staging will occur via an existing driveway and developed backyard.
