Landfill Fleet Building Column Repair

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo issued RFQ-2026-1370 to secure a contractor for the repair of a damaged column at the Landfill Fleet Building. This lump sum agreement involves a detailed scope of work including the scanning of concrete for embedded cables, demolition of concrete at the column base within a minimum one meter by one meter area, and the installation of new C310x31 channel sections welded to both sides of the column. The project requires the use of rapid-cure concrete repair materials and finishing that matches existing column coatings. All work must comply with the National Building Code 2023 Alberta Edition, CSA A23.1/A23.2, and the Canadian Electrical Code. Key deliverables include sealed shoring designs and load calculations prepared by a professional engineer registered in Alberta, along with written confirmation that the shoring is fully engaged and supporting the roof load. The procurement process utilizes a weighted scoring system across three stages: mandatory technical requirements, qualification, and a combination of technical and pricing evaluations. The top-ranked respondent will be invited to enter into the agreement. Award criteria also consider social procurement factors, including indigenous participation and the status of the respondent as a small business or equity-deserving enterprise. The successful contractor must provide performance and payment bonds each covering 50 percent of the contract price and develop a comprehensive Construction Safety Plan. While the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo remains the Prime Contractor under the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, the contractor is responsible for coordinating all permit-related inspections and close-out activities.
