Fauquier County is seeking a qualified contractor under a firm fixed price contract to provide comprehensive lawn maintenance services for the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department. The scope of work is divided into four regions—Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern—with varying maintenance frequencies including weekly mowing for approximately 250 acres, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual or bi-annual services for smaller acreage. Key deliverables include monthly mechanical edging of concrete sidewalks and curbs, bi-weekly string trimming of asphalt paths, and the removal of heavy grass clippings within 24 hours. Contractors must use turf tires to prevent marking and sharpened blades for clean cuts, and the use of chemicals is strictly prohibited. At least one person per crew must be able to communicate in English. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on the Total Season Price. Bidders must demonstrate at least five years of experience in similar grounds maintenance and provide a full list of equipment in good working order. Required certifications include a non-collusion form, proof of authority to transact business in Virginia, and a certification of no crimes against children. Payment is issued within 45 days of receiving an accurate invoice, contingent upon the submission of a monthly mowing report. Compliance with various anti-discrimination and safety laws is mandatory, and the owner reserves the right to inspect proposed equipment or request demonstrations prior to the award.
