The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) is planning a competitive procurement for the FY-08/09 Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) of Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) vessels. The acquisition involves a firm fixed price contract to repair and upgrade five LCAC crafts, with a basic order for two Assault Craft Unit Five (ACU-5) crafts and options for three additional crafts. Key work includes repairs and upgrades to the structural hull (buoyancy box), replacement of gas turbine engines (provided by the government), installation of new inflatable skirts, and integration of a new Command, Control, Communication, Computer, and Navigation (C4N) equipment package, coupled with selected alterations and repair tasks. The efforts will be based on government-prepared specifications, drawings, and alterations, with a streamlined solicitation format to facilitate participation by new potential bidders, without restrictions to specific repair agreements. To support this procurement, SWRMC is conducting industry engagement events, including an initial Industry Day held in July 2007 and a second combined East and West Coast Industry Day scheduled for December 2007 at Camp Pendleton. Interested parties are asked to submit expressions of interest by early December 2007, including company details and attendees for the upcoming event, after which they will receive detailed preliminary work packages and the opportunity to provide feedback. Continuous updates and the formal Request for Proposal (RFP) will be posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) and Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) websites. Questions and communication regarding the procurement are directed to a designated SWRMC contact, facilitating an open and accessible process for potential contractors.
